Star Wars, Vol. 2: Showdown on the Smuggler's Moon is another hit collection of Jason Aaron's Star Wars series, taking place mostly between Episode IV: A New Hope and Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. Containing Issue #7 through Issue #12, Showdown on the Smuggler's Moon begins with a story from Luke's childhood, when Ben Kenobi is living on Tatooine, trying to get used to his post-Jedi lifestyle. He's prohibited from training Luke by Owen and Beru Lars, but he still manages to help keep the kid out of danger.
Issue #8 through Issue #12 continue the saga of the main protagonists fighting for the Rebellion, in particular, the showdown between Han and Sana Solo, the latter claiming to be the wife of the former, with Princess Leia Organa in the middle. Meanwhile, Luke Skywalker is busy flying through space in his X-Wing, reading the diaries of Obi Wan Kenobi. He seeks passage to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, but he first comes into contact with Grakkus the Hutt, who offers him a deal: open the Jedi holocron or die.
I think the best attribute of this series - to me, at least - is the way that Jason Aaron has captured the humor of the Original Trilogy, something that George Lucas and J.J. Abrams both failed to do in the last four movies. Sure, Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens is a good movie, but the humor is often clunky and overly physical, like the scene with the rolling monsters just before they escape on the Millennium Falcon. This is just an amazing comic, and I'm so glad I've been able to read it.
